What Do Our Parent Volunteer Organizations Do?

Mountain View Elementary has two highly-engaged Parent Volunteer Organizations: PTA and Foundation. These organizations exist with the common goal to support to the needs of our school, teachers, and students. This goal is accomplished in a variety of ways through parent volunteer time, financial support, and student events.

"Why Are There Two Organizations?"

Each organization is able to support different aspects of our school due to financial rules each follows.

As a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and 501 (c)(3) non-profit formed through National and State PTA governing organizations, Mountain View PTA raises funds each year to provide enrichment programs and materials to our school's staff, teachers, and students.

Mountain View Foundation, also a 501(c)(3) non-profit, was formed to raise and maintain funding year-over-year for the Salaries of the Science and Computer Lab Teachers.

"How are the Funds Raised?"

Parent Memberships and Donations are a first source of fundraising for PTA and Foundation--it is truly a compliment and vote of confidence in our parent volunteer leaders to receive financial and volunteer support from our Mountain View Families!

Volunteer leaders from each organization partner together and split the funds raised from the Annual Mad Dash and Silent Auction Fundraiser in October of each year.

PTA also raises funds by offering Yearbook Sales, Book Fairs, Birthday Messages on the digital marquee sign, and additional Spirit Wear sales.

Foundation organizes the After School Enrichment Clubs and the Club Leaders donate a generous 15% of club proceeds back to the Foundation each year. "Foundation Friday" Breakfast Sales are an additional source of fundraising that is popular with the students and staff each week.

Both organizations host free and paid-admission events with food sales for families and students throughout the year to raise money, increase awareness of their missions at our school, AND to ensure our students and their families HAVE FUN! 😃

Mountain View PTA offers a variety of Membership and Donation options each year:

Foundation Family Membership Benefits were updated for the 2017-18 school year based on parent and member feedback. "What do we get for our donation?" was a common question.

The answer: Yes, your students gain access to dedicated Science Lab and Computer Lab Teachers, AND for 2017-18, Membership donation benefits now include a local business value card ($80+ value!), new Foundation car magnet, entries into Monthly Foundation Raffle Giveaways, new Foundation kids' water bottle, and 1st/2nd round prizes for the annual Mad Dash!

The Foundation Board is working hard to share the purpose of Foundation and how the two amazing, engaging teachers that instruct our students in Science/STEM and Computer Technology, Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Taylor, would not be at our school without the generous membership donations of our MVES families and community partners!
